Contestants rise to the top at Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

FORT WORTH, Texas (Jan. 30, 2026) – With two performances at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Friday, fans had plenty of opportunity to see the best of the competitors.

Bracket 4 was completed at the matinee where two contestants dominated. On Thursday night, Rusty Wright won the first round of the saddle bronc riding. The Milford, Utah, resident came back and won the second round. His scores of 91 and 88 earned him $5,000 and most importantly of all, a spot in next week’s Semi-Finals.

Wright joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 2014. He competed here that year and finished in second place behind his world champion father and traveling partner, Cody Wright, who won it.

Now, the oldest of Cody’s three bronc riding sons has already won $5,000 here and is hoping to continue on that path. Also on that winning track is barrel racer Carlee Otero. She won last night riding her great horse Blingolena, “Sly.” She came back on Friday afternoon and tied for the arena record with a time of 16.08 seconds. This time she rode an eight-year-old mare, Cathys Kandy that she calls “Twix.”

The 16.08 record had been set by Wenda Johnson in 2022. With Otero’s name added to that list, she has won both rounds of Bracket 4 and she will need to decide what horse she will be riding in the Semi-Finals.
