Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Awards Nearly $70,000 at Texas High School Shootout Rodeo
FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 7, 2026) – High school students from across Texas gathered on the final day of the 2026 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo to compete in historic Will Rogers Coliseum for nearly $70,000 in scholarships and prize money.
The Texas High School Rodeo Shootout, sponsored by Ag Trust Farm Credit, featured 2025 champions from the ten Texas High School Rodeo Association regions and the North Texas High School Rodeo Association.
A few non-Texans were among the winners as students from southern Oklahoma, eastern New Mexico and western Louisiana had chosen to take advantage of the NHSRA’s rule to designate their high school rodeo competition to be in a neighboring state.
Each event winner earned a $3,000 scholarship and a trophy buckle from the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo as well as $1,100 in prize money.
Kash Loyd from Cleburne, the 2024 National High School Rodeo Association bareback riding champion, continued his winning ways. Lloyd, who has won the state championship in his event the past two seasons, took first with a score of 75 points.
Another reigning state champion, Ethan Cart of Hamshire took first in saddle bronc riding with a 74-point effort and a perfect standing dismount.
Rounding out the rough stock events, 2025 state champion Avontis Williams of Terrell and Colton Phillips of Boyd were the only two successful bull riders. In the final competition of the day, sponsored by Mattress Firm, they each scored 75 and took home $1,675 prize money.

Rance Winters of Lipan and Cade Sandstrom of Stephenville caught first place in team roping with a time of 5.23 seconds,
In the barrel racing, sponsored by R. Watson Boots, and the pole bending, championships came down to hundredths of a second.
