Fort Worth Rodeo contestants planning for Championship Saturday

FORT WORTH, Texas (February 4, 2026) – The first group of contestants at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s ProRodeo Tournament are making plans to be at Dickies Arena on Saturday night after advancing to the finals from Semi-Final A.

One of rodeo’s power couples has been doing their part to stay in the competition and to show fans the ability that earned them each a world championship gold buckle. Tie-down roper Haven Meged and his breakaway roping wife, Shelby Boisjoli-Meged, each advanced to the Semi-Finals out of their brackets. They made their appearance in the first of two Semi-Finals, hoping to be among the best four who advance to the Championship Finals.

They did more than that. Shelby was the first to compete. Stopping the clock in 2.2 seconds, she won her event. She added $4,000 to her earnings here and will be back Saturday night to compete again. The 2023 world champion breakaway roper from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, then watched as her husband competed in the tie-down roping.

Haven Meged, the 2019 world champion, calls Miles City, Montana, home even though the couple has a property near Stephenville, Texas. The 2019 tie-down roping world champion stopped the clock in 8.6 seconds, fast enough to tie for the win with Blane Cox who also lives in Erath County. They each earned $3,500.

The Megeds are expecting their first child so this will be the final rodeo for them as a couple until July. It would be a great memory for their growing family to have a Fort Worth buckle or two to add to their collection.

Barrel racer Acey Pinkston has been busy this week at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Riding her horse Streakinfrenchbullet, known as Bullet, Pinkston won the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association title last summer competing for Southwest Texas Junior College. She has since transferred to Weatherford College and qualified for the finals of the College Rodeo held in Will Rogers Coliseum February 4.

That rodeo began at 6:30 p.m. and as soon as she finished in Will Rogers, she rushed across the stock show grounds to Dickies Arena to compete in the Wild Card round which began an hour later. She finished second and advanced to the Semi-Finals. She and Bullet clocked a 16.30 second run to win Semi-Finals A and advance to Championship Saturday.

Bull rider Hayden Welsh brought the house down as the final competitor here on Thursday night. Welsh, from Gillette, Wyoming, rode the bull named Door Dash from Cowtown Rodeo for 90.5 points.

As the night’s only successful bull rider, the young rising star earned all the money. That added $10,000 to the $6,000 that he has already won here. Welsh secured his spot in the Championship Round. The remaining bull riders to advance will be determined by the results of Semi-Finals B which will start in Dickies Arena at 7:30 Friday night.
