champions crowned at fwssr prorodeo tournament
FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 7, 2026) – The final performance of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR) ProRodeo Tournament was filled with emotion, excitement and electricity.
Action kicked off in Dickies Arena with the bareback riding with Tilden Hooper who grew up at Carthage, Texas, taking the top spot. Hooper now lives near Weatherford, Texas, with his wife and three children. After scoring 92 points on Calgary Stampede’s horse named Disco Party, Hooper found his family in the stands and there were high fives all around.
Hooper qualified for his 10th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo last December. With the $27,418 that he earned here, he could potentially qualify for rodeo’s championships and make his 11th trip to compete in Las Vegas.
Another north Texas resident, Jill Tanner, won the breakaway roping with a 2.0 second run. She is the first member of her family to earn a title here since her father Jimmie Cooper won the all-around and tie-down roping titles in 1986. Tanner, who lives at Stephenville, added $27,308 to her season earnings.
Kassie Mowry added to her barrel racing resume significantly in Dickies Arena. Not only did she win the championship with a 16.04-second run; she set a new arena record. The previous record of 16.08 seconds was set first by Wenda Johnson and then matched earlier in this year’s competition by Carlee Otero.
Mowry, who lives at Dublin, Texas, rode her great horse, Force The Goodbye “Jarvis” and earned $25,500 for all their efforts here. This is her first championship at Fort Worth and comes after she has won the world championship the past two years.
The brand-new Billy and Pam Minick All-Around Award saw Payden Bray of Stephenville, Texas, get the $10,000 bonus. Bray competed in the tie-down roping and team roping here earning $5,675 to earn the title.
Rusty Wright from Milford, Utah, earned the saddle bronc riding title after finishing second behind his father, Cody Wright in 2014. He tied for the championship with Australia’s Darcy Radel. They each had 91-point rides. Wright’s came aboard Calgary Stampede’s horse named Dandy Delight and throughout the competition he earned $24,617. Radel was on J Bar J Pro Rodeo’s Shady Jacket and he took home $21,935.
There was also a tie in the steer wrestling with 3.8-second runs. Bridger Anderson of Carrington, North Dakota and Trisyn Kalawaia from Hilo, Hawaii, were both in the winners’ circle. Both athletes are products of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s rodeo program and were coached by Stockton Graves.
Two-time college champion Kincaid Henry was alone at the top of the tie-down roping leaderboard. Henry was aboard the same horse that he rode to those championships, Duals Crescent Boon, a 16-year-old roan gelding, known as Mario. They stopped the clock in 7.5 seconds to earn $27,517. The team roping went to Corben Culley from Lawton, Iowa, and Trent Vaught, from Mena, Arkansas. They earned a total of $26,400 here with the bulk of that coming on Saturday night with their 5.4 second run.
Trey Kimzey from Strong City, Oklahoma, was one of two successful bull riders. Kimzey scored 88.5 points on Rafter G Rodeo’s bull named Hermes for the win and took home $27,400.
It was an emotional night for fans, contestants and staff as legendary announcer Bob Tallman was recognized for 50 years of commentary at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. While he is not retiring, his role here is changing and when next year’s events run Jan. 15 – Feb 6, 2027, his recognizable voice will still be heard around the grounds.
