Tarleton Sweeps Team Titles at Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s College Rodeo

FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 5, 2026) – Both the men’s and women’s teams from Tarleton State University (TSU) won the team championships at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s (FWSSR) College Rodeo, February 2-4.

Three athletes dominated their respective events, winning the first round, the final round and the overall championship. The first to accomplish this feat was TSU bareback rider Devon Moore. Moore scored 84.5 points to win the first round and bettered that by three points to take first in the finals with 87.5. He won the overall championship by seven and a half points over teammate Daxtyn Feild who finished second.

Sul Ross State University steer wrestler Cameron Haumea also swept his event. He won both rounds of competition with identical times of 3.6 seconds, taking the overall crown with 7.2 seconds. His teammate, Stetson Jameson, finished second.

The third clean sweep went to bull rider Zane Monnett. The TSU student was one of two cowboys to ride both bulls. Monnett won the first round with an 81-point ride, then scored 79.5 to win the second round. He won the overall title by 23 points over Weatherford College athlete Mecate Trammell, who also made two qualified rides.

The final round was held on National Women & Girls in Sports day and the women’s events were exciting. Emilee Charlesworth and Jenna Fulton of TSU were co-champions of the breakaway roping. Fulton tied for fifth in the long round and Charlesworth was part of a seven-way tie for seventh. That was just enough to make the top 10 who came back for the finals. Charlesworth left no doubt in the finals, stopping the clock at 2.2 seconds to win the round. Fulton was just a tenth of a second behind with a 2.3, putting them in an overall tie at 4.8 for the championship.

In goat tying another TSU student, Faith Lundberg, took home the championship. Lundberg won second in both rounds, finishing with the fastest overall time of 12.6. Jacie Graff of Weatherford College won the final round and finished second overall.

Another Weatherford College cowgirl earned the barrel racing championship. Emily Ward ran the fastest time of the entire rodeo, 16.70 seconds, to win the final round. That gave her a total of 33.51. Shaya Wimberly of Angelo State University finished second.

Devon Hay of TSU won the saddle bronc riding. The Canadian student is from a famous bronc riding family and is starting to make his own mark on the sport. He won the first round with 82 points and tied for fourth in the finals. His total of 159 points was 2.5 better than teammate Montgomery Parsons.

Sam Lewis of Angelo State won the tie-down roping. Lewis tied for second in the first round and tied for first in the finals, winning the championship with a total time of 16.6. This is the first year for Angelo State to field a college rodeo team and Lewis helped them finish second in the men’s team totals. Lane Webb of Weatherford College finished second with 16.9.

The Ranger College duo of Paycus Raulston and Duke Norby won the team roping title. They tied for fifth in the first round, and placed second in the finals for a total of 11.7 seconds. Trey Hughes of Angelo State and partner Caden Tinsley of Tarleton won the final round with 5.0 and finished second overall.

This was the first time in the 129-year history of the FWSSR that a collegiate rodeo was part of the event. The FWSSR wanted to add a ticketed event to its final week and the newly formed Lone Star Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) needed to add one more rodeo to its 2025-26 schedule.

Every region in the NIRA must host 10 rodeos per season. Most are hosted by a college or university on or near their home campus. When the NIRA split its former Southwest Region into two last June, the new Lone Star Region had plenty of rodeo athletes, but just nine member schools. Every school scheduled a rodeo, but the region needed a tenth event.

Enter the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. They offered the Lone Star Region athletes the opportunity to compete in the newly renovated, historic Will Rogers Coliseum. The arena hosted the World’s Original Indoor Rodeo® from 1944 through 2018. The professional rodeo moved to Dickies Arena in 2019 and this year’s college rodeo was the first evening rodeo in Will Rogers Coliseum since then.

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is a home for all levels of rodeo from the mutton busters (ages 4-7) through high school and college and on to the professional level.
