Jr. Shooting Sports Competition

The Results Are In!

Congratulations!

Texas 4-H and FFA students took over the shooting stands October 6-7 to compete in a number of divisions. In the Jr. Shooting Sports competition, a three-course, two-flight sporting clay tournament, a total of 271 youth, grades 6 through 12 took a literal shot, at more than $25,000 in premiums.

Congratulations to Grand Champion shooter and winner of the senior male division Lane Picklo of Austin County 4-H, earning $2,500; Senior Females Champion, Madison Mischio, Tarrant County 4-H, earning $1,500; Intermediate Female Champion, Blayke Barlow, Johnson County 4-H, earning $1,200 in premiums. Intermediate male was Baze Russel, Stephens County 4-H, earning $1,200. All winners received buckles. Full results below.

The FWSSR thanks the shooters who took part in the Shoot For Scholarships, October 5, raising funds for Jr. Shooting Sports scholarships.

AIM For Education

More scholarships were awarded during the Aim For Education Scholarship shoot, which included an online exam testing the student’s shooting, as well as wildlife and natural resource conservation knowledge. High school seniors who participated in the 2022 and 2023 Jr. Shooting Sports Competition were eligible to compete for their share of $20,000.

Students completed the 50-question online exam in September and the top ten scoring contestants then qualified to make a presentation to a panel of three industry judges during the October event. Collin County 4-Her Justin Dorren of Plano topped the field to win $4,500 while Kaitlyn Payne, a Callahan County 4-H member from Clyde, Texas, took second to win $3,500. Full results below.
