Equine IQ Contest

where your horse sense comes in handy

The Equine IQ Contest gives youth the opportunity to earn scholarships by being tested on their knowledge of horse care and management. Written exams as well as hands-on testing are requirements for all three age divisions (see below). The top five placing senior division competitors are required to give a speech on an equine industry issue.
The Equine IQ Contest is conducted by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and the Texas A&M University Equine Initiative. Resource materials for 2020 provided by Texas A&M University Equine Initiative.

Junior - Age 8 to 10



Intermediate - Age 11 to 13



Senior - Age 14 to 18

four competition categories

Scholarships awarded to the top five placing students in the Senior division. Trophy buckles awarded to each division winner. Special awards also given in each division.

Written Exam - all divisions

Hands-On Station - top 10 in each division

Identification Station - all divisions

Speech - top 5 in senior division
