Komen Benefits from Stock Show / JP Morgan Trustee, Stuart Foundation

Fort Worth, Texas - Cowboys, cowgirls, visitors to the legendary Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show and JP Morgan Trustee, Stuart Foundation came together and raised more than $42,000 for the battle against a disease that affects more than 175,000 U.S. women each year. Known as “Stock Show Goes Pink” the January 22 event benefited Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tarrant County and its efforts to raise awareness and provide assistance to breast cancer victims.

Promising one-half of the revenues from general admission and rodeo ticket sales, the Stock Show raised $21,290 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. On event day, JP Morgan Trustee, Stuart Foundation came forward and promised to match the Stock Show’s commitment raising the total to more than $42,000. “We are extremely grateful to the Stock Show and JP Morgan Trustee Stuart Foundation for their dedication and support in the fight against breast cancer,” said Ann Greenhill, executive director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tarrant County. “Seventy-five percent of the money raised stays here in the local area to support families confronted with this horrible disease.”

Pink shirts, scarves and even hats were spotted all around the 86 acre Will Rogers Complex. Stock Show staff and all rodeo participants were provided with pink western shirts courtesy of Panhandle Slim Western Wear. Even Whiplash, the Cowboy Monkey who entertains the crowds at the Stock Show’s rodeo, donned pink chaps. Breast cancer survivors were honored at the Pink Ribbon Round up, a reception in their honor, and they were given free tickets to the evening’s rodeo performance. It was a special day for some very special people.

“We are very proud of the many people who came out and supported ‘Stock Show Goes Pink’,” said Bradford S. Barnes, Stock Show executive vice president and general manager. “We’re especially pleased with the commitment from JP Morgan Trustee, Stuart Foundation, for stepping up and matching the Stock Show’s contribution.”
