All-Western Parade Brings Legendary Stock Show Downtown

Fort Worth, Texas - Telling the world that the legendary Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show is in full swing, the All-Western Parade is set for Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. An annual tradition for many North Texans, this year’s parade is expected to draw more than 100,000 spectators to downtown Fort Worth.

“Were expecting nearly 200 entries and 1,800 animals, so this year’s parade should be one of our best ever,” said Philip Schutts, Stock Show parade chairman. “We’ve kept it like an old fashion rodeo parade and that’s what draws big crowds to downtown Fort Worth on a Saturday in January.”

Appropriately, the Fort Worth Mounted Patrol followed immediately by the Marching Horned Frog Band from Texas Christian University lead the participants along the parade route, which will march south from the Tarrant County Courthouse on Main Street to Ninth Street moving one block West to Houston Street then back up to the Court house. Restricted to horseback, horse-drawn and marching entries – no motorized entries are allowed – making it a fun and one-of-a-kind event. Besides the TCU and Fort Worth ISD marching bands, entries include riding clubs, sheriffs posses, horse-drawn vehicles and floats as well as marching groups.

Entrants will be judged in the following categories: best sheriffs posse; best riding club; best horse drawn float; best marching band and best marching group; entry traveling the greatest distance; most colorful entry; Chairman’s award (best overall); and the Western Heritage Award.
