Best of Remuda Sale Expands Stock Show Legacy

FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Outstanding bloodlines from legendary ranch horse programs – the chance to come to one place and purchase such horses is a rare opportunity. You’ll get that chance on January 12 at the American Quarter Horse Association’s (AQHA) Best of the Remuda Sale hosted by the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show. Hooking up with the Stock Show’s popular Ranching Heritage Weekend has proven to be a perfect fit for this prestigious sale that recognizes ranches that have won AQHA’s coveted Best of the Remuda Award.

Approximately 80 horses have been consigned by the following ranches: 6666 Ranch – Texas; Bar B Ranch – Okla.; Bogle LTD – N.M.; Haythorn Land and Cattle Co. – Neb.; Pitchfork Land and Cattle Co. – Texas; R.A. Brown Ranch – Texas; Tule Ranch – Texas; W.H. Green Cattle Co. – Texas; and W.T. Waggoner Estate – Texas.

Horses consigned include saddle horses, yearlings, two and three year olds, broodmares and stallions. Of all the horses consigned, the yearlings likely give the buyer the biggest bang for the buck. Purchasing a yearling allows one to buy a ranches’ outstanding genetics, but at a greater value than older horses that almost always top the sale. These extraordinary yearlings provide strong “potential” with the value in a horse that’s halter broke and familiar with the sights and sounds of trailers and crowds, ready to go home and advance their education.

Well broke saddle horses are another opportunity to own a horse that’s ready to go home and be enjoyed, whether on your ranch or in the arena. These horses have seen it all – from rugged terrain to cow work and lots of miles – and are very versatile. The two and three year olds allow you to own a great bloodline started under the saddle in a horse that’s ready for training in a variety of disciplines. If boosting your breeding program is a priority, the selection of broodmares or stallions make the Best of the Remuda sale the place to be on January 12.

“When you look at today’s outstanding performance bloodlines they originated at ranches that have horses consigned to this sale,” said Billy Green of W.H. Green Cattle Co. “The genetics represented at this sale have great potential to excel in any performance event – roping, cutting, reining, ranch horse competition – you name it.”

Sale catalogs will be available on December 1. You can contact the Stock Show’s Horse Show Department at (817) 877-2400 to request one.
