Anne Marion to Receive Bill King Award
FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club and the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show will recognize a woman as distinctive as her brand at the 2007 Livestock Appreciation Day Luncheon. Anne W. Marion, owner of the legendary 6666 Ranch and president of Burnett Ranches, Ltd., will receive the W.A. “Bill” King Award for Excellence in Agriculture on January 18 during the annual luncheon.
Ms. Marion’s commitment to agriculture and the Western way of life is a continuation of a family tradition that began in 1874 when her great grandfather, Samuel Burk Burnett, bought a herd of cattle wearing the 6666 brand. He later founded the 6666 Ranch and Ms. Marion has actively overseen and directed the ranching and horse operations since 1980, making it on of the most highly respected ranches in the nation.
“Ms. Marion’s passion, dedication and commitment to preserving all realms of our Western heritage has made a significant impact on our industry,” said Hugh Ross, President of the Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club. “It’s an honor for us to have the opportunity to recognize her contributions.”
The Bill King Award recognizes a business or individual who has significantly contributed to the agricultural or agri-business industry. The late Bill King founded the Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club in 1950 and served as Stock Show Livestock Manager for many years. |
