STOCK SHOW ENTRIES SET NEW HEIGHTS

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – If the number of animals exhibited is any indication of a trend, then several significant records will be broken at this year’s Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Entries for the show – 22,673 animals – have set an all time record. The 111th show kicks off Friday, January 12 and runs through February 4.

“It’s always exciting to reach new highs and this is no exception,” said W. R. Watt, Jr., President and Manager. “Providing superior service to exhibitors then displaying their livestock in a spectator friendly fashion is a top priority and this record is a testament to the work and dedication that our volunteers and staff devote to those objectives.” Of particular significance is a ten percent increase in junior steer entries and an increase of eight percent for junior heifers. “Fort Worth continues to be a ‘must do’ show for cattle exhibitors,” noted livestock manager Stefan Marchman. “Besides the youth divisions we also have an increase in the open cattle show departments, thus the open show exhibitors also appreciate the service and facilities that make Fort Worth a superior show.”

Other show departments with increased entries this year include: open sheep; open swine; open boer goats; donkeys and mules; miniature horses; Palomino Horses; Quarter Horses; and poultry.

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo features entertainment events for the entire family, including livestock shows and educational experiences. This year’s other highlights include: the Ranching Heritage Weekend featuring the “Best of the West” Ranch Rodeo, the AQHA Best of the Remuda Sale and the Invitational Ranch Horse Show and Sale; “Best of Mexico Celebración,” showcasing the richness of Mexican vaquero tradition; “Bulls Night Out” PRCA extreme bull riding; and 30 exciting performances of the World’s Original Indoor Rodeo.
