SOUTHWESTERN EXPOSITION AND LIVESTOCK SHOW FEATURES TOP OFFERINGS OF COMMERCIAL HEIFERS

FORT WORTH, TX – Cattle producers eager to view and purchase quality replacement heifers won’t have to go any further than the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show to get a shot at the best commercial cattle the region has to offer. The Fort Worth Stock Show sets the standard providing commercial cattle producers an excellent venue to exhibit their outstanding genetics, compete for prize money then offer them for sale to the public.

The Commercial Hereford Heifer Sale on Sunday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. features 200 Hereford and Hereford / Angus cross heifers offered as open, bred and cow-calf pairs. Exhibitors will compete for $8,400 in premium money the day before at 9:00 am. The Texas Hereford Association’s “Heritage Pen,” featuring females from some of the most perennial Hereford ranches in Texas will again be sold. Icing on the cake is eight prime tickets for the 2007 National Finals Rodeo that will be auctioned to benefit Texas Hereford Association’s promotional programs.

Celebrating its 20th year, the Southwestern Exposition Invitational Commercial Heifer Sale will feature 700 ranch-raised cattle sold as bred heifers and cow-calf pairs on February 4 at 12:30 p.m. Judged in three divisions - Brahman/Crosses, Exotic/Crosses and English/Crosses – ranches compete for $11,000 in prize money. Range raised and vaccinated to a prescribed protocol, they are ready to compliment any commercial ranching program.

Both sales are conducted in the West Arena and collectively offer over 900 head of quality commercial replacement females during the 2007 Show.
