Mexican Heritage Showcased at “Best of Mexico” During Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, January 2007 – Showcasing the cultures and time-honored traditions that make the city and region a special place is a hallmark of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The “Best of Mexico Celebration” is a shining example of that effort. This most unique event, rich with color and pageantry, has proven to be a must see for those who enjoy the romantic combinations of music, horses, vaqueros and senoritas.
The talented team of performers, led by noted charro, Jerry Diaz, illustrate the ancient Mexican skills and traditions that are threaded through modern day ranch and rodeo culture. Two performances are scheduled during the Stock Show; Sunday, January 14, at 7:30 p.m. and a special holiday matinee on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 15, at 2:00 p.m.
These performances will provide a glimpse into the richness of Mexican heritage through rodeo events, Mariachi music and Folklorico dancing. Diaz, a fourth-generation charro, will demonstrate the exceptional horsemanship skills for which he is well-known. The performances will also feature two outstanding local groups: the band, Mariachi Jalisciense and La Guadalupana, a side saddle riding team. In addition, there will be exceptional performances by recording artist Nayeli Meza from Jalisco, Mexico. The “Best of Mexico Celebración” is proudly presented by Univision and Coors Light.
Now in its 111th year, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo features entertainment events for the entire family, including livestock shows and educational experiences. Scheduled for January 12 – February 4, this year’s other highlights include: the Ranching Heritage Weekend featuring the “Best of the West” Ranch Rodeo, the AQHA Best of the Remuda Sale and the Invitational Ranch Horse Show and Sale; “Bulls Night Out” extreme bull riding; and 30 exciting performances of the World’s Original Indoor Rodeo.
