Fort Worth, Texas - November 27, 2006 -- The Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show announced today that David M. “Matt” Brockman will join the organization as executive assistant effective December 1.
“We are very fortunate to have someone with Matt’s background, experience and knowledge of the livestock industry become part of our staff,” said W.R. Watt, Jr. president / manager of the show. “He brings a strong work ethic and enthusiasm that will complement our organization and help position it for continued success.”

Brockman’s responsibilities will include assisting all departments of the organization in the preparation and implementation of the 111th annual show, which begins January 12 and runs through February 4. “It’s an incredible professional honor to join an organization dedicated to bringing a top-notch livestock, entertainment and educational venue to Fort Worth each year,” Brockman said. “I look forward to helping the talented staff and hard working volunteers continue this historic and special event.”

Brockman brings extensive association management and livestock industry experience to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Most recently, he was executive vice president of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. As its chief executive officer since 2001, he oversaw the association’s daily operations and guided its staff of about 60 until this year.

Brockman worked at the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for almost 10 years, serving then-Agriculture Commissioner Rick Perry and current Agriculture Commissioner Susan Combs. His work focused on marketing, business development and producer relations at TDA.

Following graduation from Tarleton State University in 1984, Brockman worked for former U.S. Representative Charles W. Stenholm in Washington, D.C. as well as the National Grain and Feed Association. He was born in Olney, Texas.
